Lonnie Dardeen has dedicated more than 28 years to EMS and public safety, beginning his service as a volunteer firefighter in Southern Indiana. His early years in the fire service shaped his commitment to helping communities in crisis and set the foundation for a lifelong career in emergency response.

Lonnie went on to serve as a Firefighter/Paramedic and later as a Flight Paramedic, working in both fixed-wing and helicopter critical-care transport. Across multiple states and agencies, he took on roles such as Flight Paramedic Supervisor and Program Director, overseeing operations, clinical performance, outreach education, community engagement, and multi-agency coordination. His frontline experience—combined with leadership positions across EMS, air medical, and hospital systems—gives him a deep understanding of the unique pressures, trauma exposure, and cultural needs within first-responder professions.

After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Lonnie expanded his service into healthcare marketing and business development for rehabilitation hospitals, home health programs, and emergency medical organizations. His work included building partnerships with EMS departments, fire agencies, hospitals, and public-safety leaders across Indiana and beyond.

At Suncrest PEAKS, Lonnie draws on decades of public-safety experience to support the nonprofit’s mission of strengthening first-responder mental health. He assists with business operations, community engagement, agency outreach, and marketing efforts for both Suncrest Psychological Services and Suncrest PEAKS.

Outside of work, Lonnie enjoys time with his family—camping, traveling, and spending as much time outdoors as possible.

Dr. Dardeen has been in practice working with people to improve their lives since 2002. She is a certified insomnia specialist and enjoys helping people improve their sleep. She has an additional credential in managing critical incidents and responds to traumatic events that impact our area first responders.  Dr. Dardeen has extensive training in Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR for Trauma and focuses her practice on treating first responders.

Dr. Dardeen’s philosophy is that ongoing exposure to trauma causes predictable responses, and we need to train and equip our first responders to recognize and respond positively to these experiences. Traum exposure is normal, carrying it with you for a lifetime is not.  Asking for help managing this is the same as going to your medical doctor when you are sick.  Creating a strong foundation of wellness and understanding trauma's impact on their lives is critical to keeping our first responders healthy.

Dr. Dardeen attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana for her undergraduate and graduate training and completed her residency at the Salt Lake City Veteran’s Health Care System in Utah. Dr. Dardeen and her husband have lived in several states throughout the US and enjoy travel, nature, and spending time with their two little boys.
